A dramatic rescue unfurled on the River Severn in the UK on Tuesday afternoon as a canoeist dressed only in his pants became stranded above Diglis Weir.

Evesham Firefighter crew manager Adrian Mayhew said, "He was just wearing his underpants. If people are going to be playing on the river we would like them to be wearing some kind of flotation device," he added.
