Black BearSo imagine you are getting ready to do a day of fishing. You have all of your gear and your trusty PFD on just in case you fall out of the boat and drown. When you start to push away from the dock the last thing that you would expect to happen right then is to get attacked by a black bear.

Yep, that is exactly what happened to a gentleman in Port Renfrew, British Columbia.

"I just happened to look up and this bear was coming out of the water onto the dock, and right into the back of the guy's boat and went right at him," said Bruce Miller who witnessed the attack.

Miller ran down with his gaff (a long pole with a sharp hook) and hit the bear at least 10 times but the bear wouldn't let go of the man's shoulder.

"Two or three other guys came over to help and put more sharp stuff in it and gaffed it and beat it with a hammer and it wouldn't let go. Finally another gentleman came over with his filleting knife and cut the bear's throat."

The victim is expected to make a full recovery.

All I can say is WOW, I'm totally adding this to my list of reasons why it is much safer to just stay home and watch TV. Take my advice; it is getting WAY to dangerous out there kids!
