Illinois Sinks Plan to Hire a Canoe/Kayak Czar. [Dream Job]

Thursday, 15 April 2010
Did you know that Illinois was about to hire a canoe/kayak czar? Want to guess how much that lucky person was going to get paid? Would you believe that the job came with an $85,000 yearly salary? Yep.

Claude Walker was hired on as the coordinator of the state’s new “Water Trails” program which would have been responsible for the promotion of canoeing and kayaking along the state’s waterways.

Sadly, the position was cancelled 2 hours after it was announced due to a massive state budget gap.

“Because of the importance and very severe situation with the state budget, at the request of the governor’s office, we rescinded the position,” Illinois Department of Natural Resources Director Marc Miller told members of House panel.

Now, I just need to get my resume together and keep an eye out if the position gets posted in the future. I could handle doing that job. Heck, I’m pretty much doing it for free already!
