Kayakers Caught Attempting to Smuggle 297 Pounds of Marijuana into the US

Oh my. It looks like another group of kayaks got in trouble with Johnny law over the weekend when they were caught trying to smuggle in 297 pounds of marijuana worth around $178,000 from Mexico into the United States.

The fearless rum runners were detected by the U.S. Border Patrol around 4am and tracked to Imperial Beach, just south of San Diego, CA where they jumped into the shallow water and attempted to swim to shore.

The four were rounded up and arrested about an hour later.

Four kayaks used to attempt to smuggle marijuana into the US.

Ok, let's get to the real story here. What boats did they use? Looking at them I’m pretty sure that all four of them are the Prowler 13 by Ocean Kayak. You can get it in a variety of colours but it looks like they pulled out the old spray can to help it blend into the dark a bit better.

I suspect these were all purchased at a West Marine as it looks like they also splurged for the more expensive West Marine backband and seat. It's currently on sale for $115 on their website.
