Your old junker/clunker aluminum canoe could be more worth then you think as metal thieves in Saginaw, Michigan recently stole one out of a backyard. Oh yeah, if you have an air conditioner bolt it down as a bunch have been walking away as well.

Checking the scrap metal prices for today; with the weight of an aluminum canoe sitting at around 84ish pounds you could net a solid $105. I can see why they could be targeted but at least they are difficult to stick under your coat when running away in the darkness.
