The sixteen member paddling team had been testing paddles and has chosen the Werner Compulsion: blending the newest technology in paddling with this very traditional voyage. The team will depart Hanalei Bay on July 7th with a course set for the final leg of this multi year voyage. The paddling portion of the event will consist of a 460 mile paddle from to Kure Atoll and will take approximately 96 hours to complete. Werner Sponsors Outrigger ExpeditionTuesday, 24 June 2008
Werner is proud to announce their support of the Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe Voyaging Society. The HOCVS is in final preparations for their upcoming Voyage to Kure Atoll. This is the first time in modern history that a group of paddlers will reach the end of the Hawaiian Archipelago. Beyond the incredible distance and stamina required for this trip; the group hopes to raise awareness of the fragile ecosystem of the islands. Through their commitment, they have reached over five thousand people with the story of the sea life, birds, and the beauty of these remote waters and islands.
