Replacing the temporary pool, the Paddlesports Lounge and Innovation Center will be the gathering place for the industry and showcase for the latest in paddling products.
The Trade Association of Paddlesports (TAPS), a non-profit trade association supporting the paddling industry in North America, today announced it will co-sponsor the Paddlesports Lounge and Innovation Center with Outdoor Retailer and the Paddlesports Industry Association during the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, August 8-11, 2008 at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City, Utah.

In addition to a large seating area where attendees stop and can rest their feet or watch the most recent paddling footage on a large screen TV, the Lounge will include a Paddlesports Innovation Center where the latest in boats and paddling accessories will be on display.

'The Paddlesports Lounge and Innovation Center is meant be a gathering place for members of the paddlesports industry and a resource for folks who are interested in learning about the latest paddling products,' said Michael Pardy, executive director for TAPS. 'While the indoor pool was a fun place to watch paddling demos and cool off (if you wanted to get splashed), the Paddlesports Lounge and Innovation Center will be a valuable uncontested space for the industry and will better showcase the manufacture's newest boats and gear.'

The new 30- x 50- foot Paddlesports Lounge and Innovation Center replaces the temporary indoor pool previously used by kayak and canoe manufactures to display boats and paddling accessories.

"What we hope to do with the new paddlesports lounge over the next few years is to turn it into a showcase not only for product, but for merchandising." said Matt Menashes, president and CEO of the Paddlesports Industry Association. "We see this area growing into a way to highlight new ideas in merchandising, fixturing, lighting and sound."

The Paddlesports Lounge is co-sponsored and managed by employees from the Trade Association of Paddlesports, the Paddlesports Industry Association (PIA) and the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market.
