The Great Canadian Kayak Challenge

On August 29, 2009, The City of Timmins, in partnership with various sponsors, will host the first Great Canadian Kayak Challenge.

With over $14,000 in cash prizes and five divisions to suit all skill levels, the Great Canadian Kayak Challenge is sure to be the paddling event of 2009.

For those wishing to compete, four divisions are available. The Elite division will paddle a 34 km challenge with three portages and cash prizes of up to $2,500. Recreational paddlers will compete through a 24 km course and can win up to $1000. The Novice and Seniors divisions must complete a 6.5 km course that offers up to $500 to the first place winners. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes will be awarded to top male and female competitors.

There will also be a local celebrity race and a corporate challenge where the winner will take home the Great Canadian Kayak Challenge trophy and will receive a full year’s worth of bragging rights.

Expert: $100.00
Recreational: $50.00
Novice: $25.00
Seniors: $20.00
