Madison, Wisconsin, Mar 06, 2010 - In response to the paddlesports “town hall meeting” at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, an informal Paddle Advisory Council was formed to address issues with Outdoor Retailer. The Paddle Advisory Council has worked with Nielsen and Outdoor Retailer to address issues related to timing of the show and other areas of concern to paddlesports manufacturers and retailers.

Members of the Council felt that it would be timely to report back to the industry, and decided to do so at Canoecopia because of the large number of manufacturers who would already be attending.

Council members Darren Bush and Sutton Bacon will be reporting back to the industry on the progress achieved so far in cooperation with Nielsen with help from Outdoor Industry Association. Bacon will be presenting on trade show issues. Bush will report on a new initiative related to Outdoor Nation, a national program to increase youth participation, which the Paddle Council has decided to support with funding from Nielsen and Outdoor Retailer with matching funds from industry leaders. Also present will be Chris Fanning, Executive Director of The Outdoor Foundation to explain the role of The Foundation in promoting Outdoor Nation.

We invite all paddlesport industry manufacturers, retailers and other leaders and stakeholders to participate in this meeting whether or not they are participating in Canoecopia.

The meeting will be held on March 12, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Alliant Energy Center Exposition Hall Conference Room.
