Kokatat Sponsors Canoecopia Paddlesports Exhibition

Tuesday, 09 March 2010
Kokatat LogoARCATA, Calif., (March 9, 2010) – Madison will soon be abuzz with paddlesports junkies as the annual Canoecopia exhibition takes over the Alliant Energy Center on March 12-14. Kokatat, the 38-year old independent paddlewear manufacturer, is a presenting sponsor of Canoecopia and will have staff members on-hand to answer consumers’ questions and showcase its sponsored athletes through a variety of paddlesports’ presentations.

Winner of the recent “Green Business of the Year” award in their hometown of Arcata and voted the second best supplier of technical outdoor apparel by retailers in the outdoor trade publication, SNEWS, Kokatat is riding a wave of first quarter success in 2010. Canoecopia will be something of a celebration for the company as it’s team athletes will be on hand presenting their equally impressive water exploits, giving paddling demos and lectures, and premiering brand new paddlesports’ films.

Kokatat’s range of industry standard technical apparel from dry suits, life jackets, to dry tops will be available at show discount.

Consumers and fans of paddlesports are encouraged to follow Kokatat’s social media outposts for live coverage and Canoecopia day-end recaps during the Friday-through-Sunday show. Fans can expect video clips, live Tweets, and Kokatat blog and Facebook coverage.

Kokatat sponsored athlete Justine Curgenven will premier her award-winning film “This Is Canoeing” to the Canoecopia audience on the Saturday night of the show. “This Is Canoeing” is twelve short films examining the styles and personalities of the canoeing community. Curgenven takes viewers on a worldwide tour of storied canoeing destinations in the US, Scotland, Canada and Wales.

Other Kokatat athletes in attendance include women’s kayak champion Anna Levesque, sea kayaker Ben Lawry, and current freestyle kayak world champion Nick Troutman. Kokatat’s apparel collection includes options for each genre using fabrics like GORE-TEX® and TROPOS - Kokatat’s house brand of waterproof/breathable fabric. Kokatat’s designed-for-paddlers-by-paddlers apparel has propelled the company to most-trusted and most-appreciated status by paddlesports beginners and veterans alike.
