SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CALIF. – Outdoor Retailer, the leading outdoor industry trade event today announced that the Trade Association of Paddlesports (TAPS) will have a strong presence at this year’s Winter Market in Salt Lake City. According to Michael Pardy, executive director of TAPS, TAPS will make their Winter Market debut in response to the paddlesports market’s desire to extend sales and marketing efforts beyond the summer months to an annual basis.

“The TAPS organization has been a terrific partner in establishing the right environment for paddlesports within the Summer Show, and we are thrilled to see Michael, Nikki and the TAPS board ‘test the waters’ during the Winter Show,” said Peter Devin, group show director for Outdoor Retailer.

Attendees will find the TAPS lounge on the main floor at booth location #39134, where there will be paddling videos from the Reel Paddle Film Festival and The Heliconia Press, as well as a display of some of the best products in paddlesports for 2007.

TAPS will host the International Boreal Forest Campaign (IBFC) at its booth on Saturday, January 27 and Sunday, January 28 from 8:30 - 10:00 am. TAPS and IBFC hope to increase awareness of the importance of the Boreal Forest in mitigating the effects of global warming, as the Boreal Forest is a key recreation destination for paddlers and winter sports enthusiasts. Stretching from Alaska clear across to the Atlantic Ocean, the Boreal Forest holds the most freshwater on the planet and offers some of the best and last wilderness in North America for water, land and snow touring. Coffee will be available both mornings, and a short slide show on the Boreal Forest will be shown on Sunday morning.

“We support the IBFC and encourage attendees to come learn about this important environmental campaign,” stated Michael Pardy, executive director of TAPS. “I urge all paddlesports retailers to stop by and check out the benefits of membership in North America’s paddlesports trade association.”

The TAPS staff will be on-hand to address paddlesports business needs and assist in arranging meetings between manufacturers and sales representatives.
