The Paddlesports Industry Association (PIA) and the Trade Association of Paddlesports (TAPS) have come together and developed an industry-wide marketing program to promote canoeing, kayaking, and rafting in North America.

The industry has a strong base of paddlesports enthusiasts, but needs to expand its audience to achieve continued growth.  The joint effort is aimed at establishing a campaign to introduce paddlesports to a new audience of families and adults.  The primary market for the campaign is women 25-45 with children..The target launch for the campaign is April 2008, just in time for the paddling season!

In particular, the program is designed to drive growth for the paddlesports industry by generating interest in and awareness of paddlesports among consumers.  TAPS and PIA will manage the program as a joint venture.  Michael Pardy and Matt Menashes will serve as program managers for the joint venture.  The campaign will be run by Siquis, a Baltimore-based advertising and marketing agency.

The joint venture is being launched at Outdoor Retailer.  Information on the campaign is available at the TAPS booth at the Open Air Demo, and from Pardy and Menashes throughout OR.  A presentation, along with a joint venture agreement signing ceremony, is scheduled for August 10 at 8 am in the Marriot Salons G&H.  Board members and staff from both organizations will be on hand along with executives from Siquis.
