The Paddlesports Industry Association and The Shimoda Group, LLC have announced the availability of a Request for Proposals to host the Whitewater Courses and Parks 2009 (WWCP 2009) conference. WWCP 2009 is the third international event for project advocates, municipal leaders, regulators, environmental scientists.

Confluence Logo Another shake-up at Confluence Paddlesports. Last month Sue Rechner was appointed as the new President and CEO. She come from being the president of Victorinox Swiss Army, Inc.

At the time of the announcement, Confluence said it had no plans to make other executive changes, citing the existence of "a solid and dedicated team."

Now, less than a month later, news has leaked that the paddling company's top sales and marketing executive, Kelley Woolsey has resigned.

No official word yet from Confluence but the Paddlesports Industry Association circulated a press release announcing that he has left effective of yesterday (January 8, 2008) but will still say on in his position as an at-large board member of the PIA.

Paddlesports Industry AssociationThe Paddlesports Industry Association's Board of Directors elected new officers for 2008 during a board meeting on November 7, 2007. The new officers include Chairman-elect Robert "Bear" Bass of Ozark Outdoors in Leasburg, Missouri; Vice Chairman-elect Jared Carr, of Osagian Canoes in Lebanon, Missouri; Secretary-elect Darren Bush of Rutabaga Paddlesports of Madison, Wisconsin; and Treasurer-elect Holly Anderson, of Vanguard Inflatables of Arvada, CO. Josh Gray of Mohican Adventures in Loudonville , Ohio was also appointed as the fifth member of the association's Executive Committee. The new officers begin their terms on January 1, 2008.
