North Shore of Lake Superior - Resolution 250m
North Shore of Lake Superior
Resolution 250m
If you ever find yourself looking for high resolution images of earth, stop by Unearthed Outdoors and pick up a complete set there for free. The images have been split up into different resolutions which you can get down to 250m available in both .png and .tif formats.

Downloading them isn't for the faint of heart as they can be up to 250 megs each but that is nothing compared to their high resolution commercial product. There, you can get satellite resolution down to 15m! Total size for the entire dataset is 3 terabytes and costs between $25,000 and $125,000 depending on your needs.

The image on the right is a sample of the north shore of Lake Superior. Click to see it at 100% resolution. Remember that this is different from Google Earth which blends satellite photos with aerial photography so you can even closer to your dream campsite.

The other great thing with the images from Unearthed Outdoors, is that they licensed them with a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 United States License so you can use them for any purpose (including commercial use) as long as you attribute the work.
